My wife read this book a few years back and recommended that I read it. I never got around to picking this up until recently, but I think I’ll have to start taking her advice more often.
A great story with memorable characters, this story paints a picture of Afghanistan the way it hasn’t been in my lifetime – peaceful, stable, and relatively free. It was interesting to see some of the events that led up to the current situation there, and I think anyone interested in history, central Asian geography, or a character-driven novel will enjoy this book.
